Kanchan Thakur Sarkaghat from Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh recently achieved a major milestone by passing the test of the Military Nursing Service. After being shortlisted as a lieutenant she will be serving at the Military Hospital, Pune from 8 February.

She has passed her 10th Grade from Saraswati Senior Secondary School and 12th from Varishth Madhyamik Paathshaala. She has pursued B.Sc and Masters in Public health from Akal College of Public Health, Baru Sahib in Sirmour. She also worked as a Junior Research Fellow in Indian Council of Medical Research funded project in School of Public Health, PGIMER,Chandigarh

Her father, Om Prakash Thakur is a personal assistant in the Forest Department. Her Fiance, Yashwant Thakur is a Captain in the Indian Army. She was deeply inspired by him for serving the nation.
