This interfaith initiative aims to prepare young minds for life in a culturally diverse society, promoting mutual respect and awareness of various faiths.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Unique_Program_Led_by_Visionaries\"><\/span>A Unique Program Led by Visionaries<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Run by the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit, Religious Diversity Journeys is a flagship initiative designed to bring middle schoolers closer to different religious traditions. Raman Kaur Singh, President of the Interfaith Council, emphasized the program\u2019s role in fostering harmony, stating, \u201cOur shared values drive us to create a community that lives together peacefully.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Hands-On_Learning_Experience_at_Detroit_Gurdwaras\"><\/span>A Hands-On Learning Experience at Detroit Gurdwaras<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This year, Gurdwaras in Detroit and surrounding areas hosted over 600 students, aged approximately 14, along with parents and teachers. A notable visit was to Mata Tripta Ji Gurdwara Sahib, where the day began with breakfast followed by an interactive overview of Sikhism in the Diwan Hall.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Interactive_Breakout_Sessions_for_Holistic_Learning\"><\/span>Interactive Breakout Sessions for Holistic Learning<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Students participated in four breakout sessions, each designed to highlight different aspects of Sikh culture:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dastaar and the 5Ks:<\/strong> Students learned about the Sikh identity, and some even had turbans tied for them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Service Projects:<\/strong> Hands-on activities emphasized the importance of Seva (selfless service).<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Gurdwara:<\/strong> Insights were shared about the spiritual and communal role of Gurdwaras.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gatka:<\/strong> Students explored the Sikh martial art, a symbol of discipline and defense.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Langar_Experience_A_Lesson_in_Equality_and_Service\"><\/span>The Langar Experience: A Lesson in Equality and Service<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>An overview of the Langar tradition was presented, followed by a communal meal. Students actively contributed to the preparation of Langar, reinforcing the values of equality and humility. A Q&amp;A session concluded the event, allowing students to clarify their understanding of Sikhism.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Expanding_the_Program_to_Other_Communities\"><\/span>Expanding the Program to Other Communities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Similar programs were held at Singh Sabha of Michigan Gurdwara in Canton and Rochester Gurdwara Sahib.
