The Managing Director of SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India), Jatindra Nath Swain, IAS, inaugurated the project, hailing it as the largest for any rural educational institution in the state.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Collaborative_Effort_for_Green_Energy\"><\/span>Collaborative Effort for Green Energy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The project, inaugurated at a cost of \u20b95.2 crores, includes a subsidy of \u20b91.7 crores from the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy. The initiative will supply over 80% of the energy requirements of Akal University and 13 Akal Academies. He encouraged schools to adopt solar power to enhance sustainability in education.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tackling_Climate_Change_with_Renewable_Energy\"><\/span>Tackling Climate Change with Renewable Energy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This solar plant will reduce 35,000 metric tons of carbon emissions over 25 years, equivalent to planting 82,000 trees. Annual energy cost savings are estimated at \u20b91 crore, further strengthening the institution\u2019s commitment to environmental conservation.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Expanding_the_Solar_Network\"><\/span>Expanding the Solar Network<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Kalgidhar Society has installed 59 solar power plants across Akal Academies and universities, making significant strides in adopting clean energy.
