The Clash of Forces<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Battle of Chamkaur, fought from December 21-23, 1704, was a three-day battle between Guru Gobind Singh&#8217;s Khalsa and the combined Mughal and Rajput forces. Guru Gobind Singh, with his sons and 40 followers, held out against a 1,000-strong enemy coalition in a small haveli.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Background_%E2%80%93_The_Rise_of_Guru_Gobind_Singh_and_the_Khalsa\"><\/span>Background &#8211; The Rise of Guru Gobind Singh and the Khalsa<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur in 1675 sparked Guru Gobind Singh\u2019s commitment to fighting oppression. In 1699, he founded the Khalsa, a brotherhood of warriors to defend the helpless and stand against tyranny.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Mughals_and_Hill_Chieftains_Alliance\"><\/span>The Mughals and Hill Chieftains&#8217; Alliance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Alarmed by the growing power of the Khalsa, the Mughal rulers and hill chieftains allied to eliminate Guru Gobind Singh and his followers. They laid siege to Anandpur Sahib, leading to months of intense struggle and heavy casualties on both sides.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Deceptive_Safe_Passage_and_Betrayal\"><\/span>The Deceptive Safe Passage and Betrayal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After prolonged resistance, Guru Gobind Singh agreed to a safe passage for his family. However, once they exited Anandpur Sahib, the Khalsa was ambushed on the banks of the River Sarsa, leading to the separation of Guru Gobind Singh\u2019s family.<\/p>\n<p>The Heroic Stand at Chamkaur Haveli<\/p>\n<p>Guru Gobind Singh and his remaining followers made their stand at Chamkaur, where they fought fiercely against overwhelming forces. Despite suffering heavy losses, they displayed incredible bravery, with the Guru\u2019s sons also falling in battle.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Strategic_Escape_and_the_Khalsas_Legacy\"><\/span>The Strategic Escape and the Khalsa&#8217;s Legacy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As the battle neared its end, only eleven Khalsa soldiers remained.
