Her message highlighted the centre&#8217;s life-changing impact on her family member, who has now embraced a new life as a sober Gursikh.<br \/>\nIn her letter, the UK-based lady wrote,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Hi<\/em><br \/>\n<em>I want to let other people know what a brilliant job\u00a0you are doing at your centre.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The reason I am saying this is regarding a member of my family who came to\u00a0your rehab centre and you have done a wonderful job\u00a0on him.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>He is now a sober Gursikh!!!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Many thanks !<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>-19 November 2013<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Remarkable_Transformation_of_a_Loved_One\"><\/span>The Remarkable Transformation of a Loved One<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In April 2013, the patient, who had been battling a decade-long addiction and related health issues, sought help at the Akal De-Addiction Centre. Over the course of two months, he underwent a remarkable transformation. Not only did he regain his physical health, but he also adopted Sikh practices, leaving behind alcohol and nicotine. His recovery has allowed him to reclaim his role as a loving and responsible family member.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Her_Story\"><\/span>Her Story<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>She Narrates \u2013<br \/>\nThe patient (my family member) from England was admitted in April 2013 to \u00a0Akal De-Addiction Centre run by The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib.<br \/>\nAddicted to liquor and smoking since more than ten years he is 44, a married man with two children. He was born and brought up in England and studied up to high school there. His parents, spouse and children are Amritdhari (baptised Sikhs).<br \/>\nHe is a driver by profession but due to drunken driving related cases his driving license was impounded. Looking no further he decided to quit his drinking and smoking addictions he sought treatment in England and was kept in rehab centres there. Being a case of diabetes, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, a few years back he was operated for smoking related cancer (Lymphoma) and underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Transformation\"><\/span>The Transformation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>At the time of his admission in Akal De-addiction Centre he was in a very bad condition and was low in motivation.<br \/>\nHe stayed for about two months in our deaddiction centre and his overall health improved a lot. As per his wish he got baptism as per Sikh rites (Amritpaan).<br \/>\nDuring his stay he also learnt how to read Gurmukhi and took Santhaya (a correct way of reading and recitation of Sri Guru Grantha Sahib Ji).<br \/>\nSince his discharge from the centre seven months back he is reported to be alcohol and nicotine free, taking up family responsibilities and performs Nitnem daily.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Centre_with_a_Mission_to_Heal\"><\/span>A Centre with a Mission to Heal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Founded in 2004 by The Kalgidhar Trust, the Akal De-Addiction Centre in rural Punjab has established itself as a beacon of hope. Boasting a 60% abstinence rate\u2014far above global standards\u2014the centre integrates medical treatments, yoga, and spiritual therapies to ensure a holistic recovery experience.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Inspired_Leadership_and_Dedicated_Care\"><\/span>Inspired Leadership and Dedicated Care<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The centre\u2019s mission, initiated by Dr. Rajinder Singh and inspired by the late Padam Shri Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, exemplifies unwavering dedication to combating addiction.
