His bravery and exceptional service in high-risk operations have made him one of India\u2019s most decorated CRPF officers.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Kirti_Chakra_%E2%80%93_Indias_Second-Highest_Peacetime_Gallantry_Medal\"><\/span>Kirti Chakra &#8211; India\u2019s Second-Highest Peacetime Gallantry Medal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>On India\u2019s 73rd Independence Day, Harshpal Singh was honored with the Kirti Chakra, the country\u2019s second-highest peacetime gallantry award. He earned this distinction for leading an operation in Jhajjar-Kotli, Jammu, where his team eliminated three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists attempting to attack the Northern Command headquarters of the Indian Army. The encounter left him with bullet and splinter injuries.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_High-Stakes_Operation_Against_Terrorists\"><\/span>A High-Stakes Operation Against Terrorists<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Recounting the September operation, Harshpal said, \u201cWe were tracking them for over 24 hours. It was a close-quarter battle at just 15 meters.\u201d The encounter successfully neutralized the heavily armed JeM fidayeen, preventing a major attack on the Army\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Recognition_from_CRPF_Leadership\"><\/span>Recognition from CRPF Leadership<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Director General RR Bhatnagar praised Harshpal\u2019s achievements, stating, \u201cWinning five gallantry awards is extremely rare. Acting on intelligence about a Maoist leaders\u2019 meeting, he and his team launched a surprise assault, eliminating five top Maoist leaders, despite being outnumbered.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bravery_in_2014_%E2%80%93_Eliminating_a_Wanted_Maoist_Commander\"><\/span>Bravery in 2014 &#8211; Eliminating a Wanted Maoist Commander<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>On 7 July 2014, Harshpal, then an Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations), tracked a senior Maoist commander attempting to recruit villagers in Lemba, Khunti. His team launched a stealth attack, successfully eliminating the commander, who had a \u20b92 lakh bounty on his head.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2015_Operation_%E2%80%93_Striking_Against_Maoist_Leadership\"><\/span>2015 Operation &#8211; Striking Against Maoist Leadership<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A year later, on 18 August 2015, Harshpal led another high-risk mission, eliminating a Maoist zonal commander and capturing his deputy.
