This land, named after Punjab, India, has historical records dating back to the 1880s, showcasing the early Sikh presence and influence in the region. For the Sikh community, this discovery is a source of pride, further cementing their deep-rooted history in Australia.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Was_It_Named_%E2%80%98Punjaub\"><\/span>Why Was It Named \u2018Punjaub\u2019?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Historical archives reveal that the area was officially named Punjaub in 1880 because it had five rivers flowing through it\u2014Logan, Albert, Pimpania, Coomera, and Nerang\u2014just like Punjab in India, which derives its name from its five rivers.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Historical_Significance_of_Punjaub_Cattle_Station\"><\/span>The Historical Significance of Punjaub Cattle Station<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Domiciled in the Burke district, Punjaub cattle station covered 446 square miles and was a significant agricultural and commercial hub. It was sold to Messrs Travers and Gibson for \u00a32000, as reported in the Rockhampton Morning Bulletin on August 7, 1880. The estate also had a homestead, possibly used as a commercial lodging, and was renowned for its fertile lands and diverse orchards growing fruits like oranges, lemons, mangoes, bananas, and figs.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sikh_Presence_and_Cultural_Influence\"><\/span>Sikh Presence and Cultural Influence<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Mr. Tarunpreet Singh\u2019s research also highlights Sikh presence in Queensland and its surrounding areas during the mid-to-late 19th century.
