Amrit sat cross-legged on the wooden steps, his pencil dancing across the pages of his sketchbook. The evening breeze carried the scent of fresh earth, and the rustling trees whispered soft melodies.<\/p>\n<p>His father, Jaswant Singh, stepped onto the porch, wiping the sweat from his brow after a long day of work. He let out a content sigh as he sat beside Amrit, glancing at his son\u2019s drawing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPapa,\u201d<\/strong> <em>Amrit asked, pausing mid-sketch,<\/em><strong> \u201cwhy did you give some of your earnings to that school project today?<\/strong> <strong>Don\u2019t we need that money for our house?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Jaswant looked at his son, his eyes filled with warmth. He patted the space beside him.<\/em> <strong>\u201cCome here, beta,\u201d<\/strong> he said gently. Amrit scooted closer, curiosity gleaming in his eyes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Fathers_Lesson_in_Giving\"><\/span>A Father\u2019s Lesson in Giving<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>\u201cTell me, Amrit,\u201d<\/strong> <em>Jaswant began,<\/em> <strong>\u201cdo you feel happy when you learn something new at school?<\/strong> <strong>Or when you run around with your friends, feeling strong and healthy?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amrit grinned. <strong>\u201cYes, Papa! I love reading stories and playing cricket with my friends!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jaswant nodded.<strong> \u201cNow imagine there are children who don\u2019t have a school to go to. No books, no playground, no teacher to guide them. Some don\u2019t even have a doctor to help them when they are sick.\u201d<\/strong> He paused, watching Amrit\u2019s expression change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cToday, I gave a part of what I earned to help build a school for them. Just thinking about those children learning, playing, and growing brings me joy. That, my son, is the beauty of giving.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amrit frowned slightly, deep in thought. <strong>\u201cBut Papa, what about us? In Sikhi, we have a beautiful tradition called Daswandh\u2014we set aside a portion of what we earn for those who need it more.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amrit listened intently as his father continued. \u201cSikhi teaches us three important values:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kirat Karo \u2013<\/strong> Work hard and earn honestly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Naam Japo \u2013<\/strong> Remember Waheguru and stay connected to Him.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Vand Chako \u2013<\/strong> Share what we have with others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We don\u2019t lose when we give, Amrit. Instead, we grow happiness together.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Happiness_That_Multiplies\"><\/span>Happiness That Multiplies<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A slow smile spread across Amrit\u2019s face. <strong>\u201cSo, when we share, we help others and feel happy ourselves?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cExactly,\u201d<\/strong> Jaswant said, resting a gentle hand on his son\u2019s shoulder.<strong> \u201cToday, I felt peace knowing that somewhere, a child will read their first book because of us. That\u2019s the power of Vand Chako\u2014happiness that spreads.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amrit\u2019s eyes sparkled with excitement. <strong>\u201cPapa, next time, I\u2019ll save my pocket money to help too!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jaswant pulled him into a proud embrace. <strong>\u201cThat\u2019s my boy.
