Chosen from among 350 participants at the district level, Harmanpreet now competes at the state level with her innovative project titled <strong>\u201cThe Solar Switch.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Daughter_of_an_Army_Martyr_Raised_by_a_Strong_Mother\"><\/span>Daughter of an Army Martyr, Raised by a Strong Mother<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Harmanpreet\u2019s journey is deeply inspiring. She is the only <strong>daughter of an Army martyr<\/strong> and is raised by <strong>her mother, an Anganwadi worker,<\/strong> who single-handedly managed both household and Harman\u2019s education. In a village where many still question the importance of educating girls, her success breaks all barriers and stereotypes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_District_Level_to_State_Stage_%E2%80%93_Her_Selection_Journey\"><\/span>From District Level to State Stage &#8211; Her Selection Journey<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Her model was selected during a district-level competition where over <strong>350 science projects<\/strong> were presented by students from various schools. Only the top 25 were chosen to proceed to the Delhi exhibition. Harmanpreet stood out with her innovative thinking and commitment.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Idea_Behind_%E2%80%9CThe_Solar_Switch%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>The Idea Behind \u201cThe Solar Switch\u201d<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Mentored by her <strong>Physics teacher Mr. Harbans Singh<\/strong>, Harmanpreet developed the idea of <strong>\u201cThe Solar Switch,\u201d<\/strong> a device that uses a photo sensor to automatically turn devices on\/off based on light intensity. Her project is supported under the <strong>INSPIRE Award Scheme<\/strong> by the Central Government, receiving <strong>\u20b95000<\/strong> for its development.<\/p>\n<p>The model can be adapted to use thermo or sound sensors, allowing electrical devices to respond to heat or pre-set sounds\u2014demonstrating the project&#8217;s vast scope and utility.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Harmanpreets_Vision_for_the_Future\"><\/span>Harmanpreet\u2019s Vision for the Future<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Harmanpreet hopes to take her project to the National Level and encourages other students to contribute ideas to enhance it further. She believes in collaborative innovation and welcomes modifications for broader applications.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mentors_Future_Plans_%E2%80%93_Connecting_Alumni_with_Innovation\"><\/span>Mentor\u2019s Future Plans &#8211; Connecting Alumni with Innovation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Her mentor, Mr. Harbans Singh, aims to connect this project with <strong>Akal Academy Ratia alumni<\/strong>, <strong>Sharanjeet Singh<\/strong> and <strong>Sahil<\/strong>, both now at <strong>IIT Delhi,<\/strong> to refine the model with advanced technical input.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Gratitude_to_Akal_Academy_and_Her_Mothers_Strength\"><\/span>Gratitude to Akal Academy and Her Mother\u2019s Strength<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When asked what inspired her love for science, Harmanpreet credited her mother\u2019s unwavering support and her nurturing education at Akal <strong>Academy Ratia<\/strong>, run by <strong>The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib<\/strong>.
