\nVolunteers distributed over 400 to 500 relief kits every day each one carefully packed with essentials like food, toiletries, and daily-use articles.
\nWhen they realized women and children needed clothes and undergarments a dedicated purchase team sourced the items from a nearby town and returned the same day to distribute them.
\nThe charity was dignity in action.<\/p>\n<\/span>Healing in Every Touch<\/span><\/h3>\nFour dedicated doctors, including Dr. Harjit Singh, formed the medical wing of the team. Setting up base at Gurudwara Sahib, Thevara, they traveled across affected regions treating people who had endured immense physical and mental trauma.
\n\u201c<\/strong>Most had waterborn diseases like skin infections, asthma, even heart complications,<\/em>\u201d<\/strong> Dr. Harjit shared. \u201c<\/strong>But the most common afflictions were silent ones stress, fatigue, and loss.<\/em>\u201d<\/strong>
\nAnd yet, with every diagnosis came reassurance. With every medicine given, a prayer for strength.<\/p>\n<\/span>Educating Amid Chaos<\/span><\/h3>\nAs the floodwaters receded, the focus shifted to recovery not just of homes, but of hopes. A second truck arrived carrying notebooks and study materials for children who had lost everything. Because education must continue, even when life pauses.
\nWith over nine tones of supplies focused solely on students, Akal Academy and its partners ensured that children could restart their academic journeys without delay.<\/p>\n
<\/span>Sewa Without Boundaries<\/span><\/h3>\nWhether it\u2019s the devastating earthquake in Gujarat, the floods in Uttarakhand and Nepal, or now, Kerala the SGPC and Akal Academy volunteers have been there. Every time. For everyone.
\n\u201c<\/strong>We do not differentiate between caste, creed, or geography,<\/em>\u201d<\/strong> says Bhagwant Singh. \u201c<\/strong>Service is our only religion<\/em>.\u201d<\/strong>
\nLocal Sikh communities played a vital role too, guiding the team to the most affected zones, supporting logistics, and sharing in the spirit of seva.<\/p>\n<\/span>What This Teaches Us as Students<\/span><\/h2>\nAt Akal Academy, our classrooms are not limited to four walls. Sometimes, they stretch into the flood-hit alleys of Kerala. Sometimes, they are found in the face of a relieved mother or the smile of a child holding a new notebook.
\nThis mission was more than a relief drive. It was a living lesson in empathy, action, teamwork, and the Sikh value of Sarbat da Bhala – welfare of all.<\/p>\n
