A Bridge of Compassion and Knowledge<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In a quiet village of <strong>Punjab<\/strong>, a heartwarming legacy continues to grow. <strong>Akal Academy, Basarke <\/strong>established in memory of <strong>Dr. Kharag Singh Sachdeva Ji<\/strong>, the first Principal of <strong>Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot <\/strong>has become a beacon of hope and health for rural children, thanks to the visionary efforts of his family, <strong>Dr. Navjeet Kaur<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Gurcharan Singh<\/strong> from the <strong>USA.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Doctor couple&#8217;s commitment to rural upliftment recently took another giant leap as they partnered with <strong>Drexel University, Philadelphia<\/strong>, to combat one of the most silent yet painful health crises among children oral hygiene negligence.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"International_Wisdom_Local_Impact\"><\/span>International Wisdom, Local Impact<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A team of dental health delegates from <strong>Drexel University<\/strong> arrived at <strong>Akal Academy, Basarke<\/strong>, to conduct an interactive and impactful workshop on <strong>\u201cOral Hygiene and Health.\u201d<\/strong> Their mission is to tackle the epidemic of tooth decay affecting children as young as three in rural India. Students greeted the international guests with a soulful blend of <strong>Shabad Kirtan<\/strong>, vibrant rhymes, a thoughtful skit, and a high-energy <strong>Gatka performance.<\/strong> The welcome was an expression of gratitude, culture, and learning. <strong>This event was also held in memory of Dr Kharag Singh Sachdeva Ji.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Toothbrushes_Tips_and_Tender_Smiles\"><\/span>Toothbrushes, Tips, and Tender Smiles<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In the workshop, the Drexel team educated students on:-<br \/>\n<strong><em>\u2022 Proper brushing techniques through live demonstrations<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>\u2022 Early signs of tooth decay<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>\u2022 Importance of twice-daily brushing and dietary choices<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>\u2022 How poor oral hygiene affects overall health<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nEvery child left the workshop not only more informed but also equipped each received a new toothbrush and toothpaste as a gift from the visiting experts.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Lessons_Beyond_the_Classroom\"><\/span>Lessons Beyond the Classroom<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The delegates emphasized that oral health should be a part of the regular school curriculum. Schools, they said, play a crucial role in shaping habits and ensuring health reaches every home. They praised <strong>Akal Academy<\/strong> for opening its doors to global partnerships for the betterment of its students.<br \/>\nAs one of the delegates remarked:-<br \/>\n<em>\u201cSeeing these bright, disciplined children absorb global knowledge in a rural setting is inspiring.
