A prophecy, fulfilled three centuries later

Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, foretold that Talwandi Sabo would become “Guru Ki Kashi” — a great centre of learning. Akal University, established in 2015 under the Akal University Act (Punjab Act No. 25 of 2015) and governed by The Kalgidhar Society under the leadership of Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, was set up to realise that prophecy.
At its core is the International Center for Comparative Religious Studies, which focuses on the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and works to translate the scripture into languages spoken around the world. The university mandates three foundational principles of higher education — teaching, learning and research — rather than treating education as a commercial venture.
