Akal Academies run by the Kalgidhar Society

Akal Academies in North India

Akal Academies are a network of 130 Rural Schools of Excellence run by the Kalgidhar Society across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Together they reach 33 districts and 6,450 villages, making them one of the largest networks of the best rural education schools in India.

The story began in 1986 with five students in a small hut at Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. Today, more than 75,000 children study at Akal Academies, and around 70% of them are the first in their families to attend school.
