In 1508 Guru Nanak Dev Ji touched the land of Sri Jaganathpuri, Orissa with his holy feet. Guru Ji blessed the king and people of Puri for the betterment of their lives and with happiness and prosperity. The King of Puri donated many acres of land to Guru Ji, but Guru Ji advised him to build a Dharamshala, so that people coming from different parts of country can stay and chant the name of the Almighty. But even after five hundred years no Sikh temple was built in Puri. The people residing in nearby towns tried few times but could not succeed, as there are no Sikh families staying in the area.

But after Baba Shamsher Singh Ji Dilli Wale visited Puri again he was filled with grief on seeing the condition of Baoli Sahib. After listening to the Saadh Sangat of Orissa and adjoining states, Baba Ji decided to stay back and build the beautiful Guru Ghar at this neglected place of Guru Ji. Inspite of numerous hurdles Baba Ji stuck to his decision of doing the work.

With the blessings of Guru Ji and help from the Sangat, Baba Ji purchased a plot of land in Balia Panda. Within a short span of one year Gurudwara Aarti Sahib was built here. And remembering the third Pyara of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Bhai Himmat Singh, Baba Ji and the help which poured in from world over of Guru Nanak Nam Levan Sangat, this holy place is now ready in front of us.Saadh Sangat Jio, Gurudwara Aarti Sahib has a beautiful four story building. Beautiful rooms built in it are given free to the Sangat. The Langar of Guru continues 24 hours. Anyone from any religion, cast or creed can stay here, have langar and blessings of Guru Maharaj.
