Flood Relief 2023
Climate Change is making a massive impact on everyone’s life.
Recent heavy rains have caused Panjab Floods and floods in Himachal Pradesh and Haryana, creating havoc.
The Kalgidhar Society, Baru Sahib, emerges again as a beacon of compassion and support. Our Akal Flood Relief team is tirelessly working on rescue operations and extending essential items and relief supplies to those affected in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and other affected areas.
Havoc Created by Floods
Record rainfall also caused local flooding due to the swelling up of many rivers, including Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, and Ghaggar. All major flood-ravaged regions include Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Bathinda, and Amritsar.
There was also significant damage to villages like Shatrana, Patran Gulahar in Patiala, Moonak in Sangrur, Shahkot, Gidar Pindi in Jalandhar, Mandli Village in Nawanshahr, and Ratia in Fatehabad.
Kalgidhar Society’s Response and Relief Operations
The Kalgidhar Society is at the forefront and helping flood victims. Our Akal Flood Relief team has around 150 volunteers. They are tirelessly working on rescue efforts and extending essential relief supplies to those affected in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
The volunteers provide Langar (Hot Food) to the needy, clean drinking water, rescue them, and provide medicines.
The #AkalReliefTeam cares for the people and even provides for the animals and cattle, arranging medicine, nursing, and fodder.
The team is not only rescuing people but also voiceless animals. They have rescued our furry friends and loyal companions – Dogs, who are equally affected by the calamity.
Providing essential support to the flood victims
The Akal Relief mobilized team has gone beyond providing Langar. The team also helped to construct the Check Dam in the village of Dhusi to help the affected villages regain their footing.
Our team is also working on clear up and rebuild task of the major roads in Himachal Pradesh, which were caused due to landslides that occurred due to heavy rains.
Akal Academy Kauriwara in the District of Mansa, Punjab, running under the auspices of the Kalgidhar Society, Baru Sahib, has risen as a beacon of hope for flood victims in the region. With water logging causing distress and hardship, the Academy has opened its doors to those in need. The Academy has set up a Flood Relief Camp to provide immediate shelter and aid to those affected.
