Founded on a vision, not just a syllabus
Eternal University was established in 2008–09 under the Himachal Pradesh Private University Act, 2006 and HP Government Act No. 3 of 2009 — the first private university under The Kalgidhar Trust, in what was then one of Sirmour district’s most under-served areas. It stands on the same 450-acre campus at Baru Sahib that is home to the Akal Academies’ founding school, along the Giri river in the Shivalik hills.
The university offers undergraduate degrees exclusively to women, in keeping with the founders’ conviction that educating a woman educates a generation; postgraduate and doctoral programmes are open to both men and women. Its first batch of 300 students, across disciplines from engineering to nursing to music, graduated at the university’s first convocation on 18 November 2012.

That conviction — voiced by Sant Attar Singh Ji and carried forward by Sant Teja Singh Ji and Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, President of The Kalgidhar Trust — is why Eternal University’s motto is “World Peace through Value-Based Education.”
