Disaster Relief

  When Disaster Strikes

The Kalgidhar Society is often one of the first to reach the scene when disaster strikes. Officers are trained to meet all kinds of emergencies by providing food, shelter, clothing and spiritual comfort. The Kalgidhar Society’s Goals in Emergency Disaster Services: When the Kalgidhar Society initiates a disaster relief operation, the first aim is to meet the basic needs of those who have been affected. Even at this level, the Kalgidhar Society’s goals are to offer Material comfort, Physical comfort, Emotional comfort, and Spiritual comfort.

The Kalgidhar Society’s Emergency Disaster Service Activities: The Kalgidhar Society provides numerous disaster relief services. It has the ability to provide both immediate emergency assistance and long-term recovery help. Emergency response services are activated on a short notice, while long-term recovery is strategically planned in response to the situation, through working and partnering with many other community entities.

  • Food Service: The most visible of the Kalgidhar Society’s disaster services is the delivery of meals and drinking water to disaster victims and emergency workers. Food may be prepared and served at congregate feeding sites.
  • Emergency Shelter: The Kalgidhar Society provides shelter at a facility identified by the local emergency management personnel.
  • Cleanup and Restoration: The Kalgidhar Society supports people as they restore and rebuild after a disaster.
  • Disaster Social Services: The Kalgidhar Society provides direct financial assistance to disaster victims through a system of trained case workers. This assistance is available for: Essential living supplies, such as food, clothing, medicine, bedding, or baby products; Emergency housing needs; and Disaster-related medical or funeral expenses.

The Kalgidhar Society’s relief and rehabilitation efforts have been acknowledged by the Government of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs.

Support Generously

Most of the young children in rural North India have to stay at home due to poverty and lack of educational opportunities around their villages. They indulge in household work or child labor. Your sponsorship could change that. Your donation is tax exempt. The Kalgidhar Society is a registered charitable organization in USA, Canada, UK and India.
