Two days workshop was organized in main Auditorium of Eternal University. Delegates from Drexel University took the sessions on critical care. Delegates were: Prof. Dona (Ph.D. student, Assistant Clinical Professor in critical and emergency care), Prof. Brien (Assistant clinical Professor in Emergency and Community care), Prof. Elizabeth Richard ( Assistant Clinical Professor in Cardiothoracic & ICU)

7 Students along with one faculty of Murari Lal Memorial College of Nursing attended the Workshop.

On the 1st Day Guests were welcomed. Inaugural speech was given by Mrs. Ranjeet Kaur (Principal Akal College of Nursing). Addressing speech was followed by Shabad. Prof. Dona was first to take the session on cardiac alterations and she mainly focused on Angina Pectoris, Myocardial Infarction, Shock and Heart Failure. She explained the etiology, clinical manifestations, Diagnostic tests and management of all above mentioned disorders. She involved all the students by asking questions and making the teaching more interactive and interesting. After Lunch break Prof .Elizabeth resumes the session and put light on respiratory disorders and treatment modalities for major respiratory alterations. She focused on Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome & Mechanical Ventilation. She told students regarding various modes of Mechanical Ventilator and management of Ventilator-associated Pneumonia. After the tea beak Prof. Brein discussed a case study on MI and Shock and it was a real case of one of his colleague’s father. He explained comprehensive clinical picture of the patient with the help of real pictures that was taken when patient was admitted in ICU.

On the 2nd day of Workshop Prof. Brein took session on Traumatic emergencies. Under the topic he discussed regarding Chest injuries and Traumatic brain injuries. He explained in detail regarding Burns, diffuse and focal axonal injuries, Chest trauma including Flial chest, Pneumothorax, Hemothorax, Tension Pneumothorax. Prof. Brein told students regarding assessment of patients with Traumatic Injuries and emergency management of all the above-mentioned conditions. In Burns he elaborated about assessment of Total burn surface area using rule of Nine and he focused on the Parkland formula for fluid replacement in Burn patients. Tea break was announced and after that Prof. Elizabeth took session on Diabetic ketoacidosis, Hyperglycemic hyperosmolar non-ketonic syndrome. She gave a comprehensive review of types of Diabetes Mellitus, related etiology and Pathophysiology and also its management. After the completion of this session all the students and delegates went for Lunch break. After Lunch break Prof Brein took session on GI Disorders and Hepato-biliary emergencies. The sub topics were GI bleed, Peptic Ulcer disease, Peritonitis, Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis, Appendicitis, Cirrohosis of Liver and Pancreatitis. He focused on clinical manifestations and management of all these disorders. Here after Prof. Elizabeth took session on Acute Kidney Injury in detail. She discussed regarding phases of renal failure, clinical manifestations and in management she focused on Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy. Thenceforth Prof. Brein discussed a case of Accidental trauma later on diagnosed as Flial chest after complete assessment. The review of previous topics was done with this case study as the findings were correlated. Following that Certificate of Participation was distributed. Thereby suggestions to upgrade the nursing profession were addressed by Delegated from Drexel University. After that Vote of Thanks was given by Mrs. Ranjit Kaur (Principal Akal College of Nursing.

Prof. Sujana Chakaravarty (Academic Coordinator of ACN) gave her Suggestions to upgrade Nursing and shared her real life experiences in Nursing Profession.
