The 40-year-old, Jaspal Singh, was working in his fields when the news of his 15-year-old daughter topping the district in the Class X exam reached him.

Ravneet Kaur, a student of Akal Academy Balbehra, made to the top rank in the district with 99.4 per cent marks in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X exam. The CBSE announced results for Class X today afternoon.

“Initially, I was just aware of Ravneet passing the Class X exam and decided to congratulate her after my work at the field was over. But then I came to know that she had already made to the top in the district,” said Jaspal.

“I only knew that she has passed the examination, but was not aware that my daughter had scored so well that she topped the district,” said elated Jaspal.

Ravneet has scored 497 marks out of 500 in the Class X board exam. The district topper, Ravneet Kaur, said, “I want to be a doctor and will pursue medical stream.”

“I was not expecting that I would top the district. I used to study extra at home to prepare for the board exams,” added Ravneet.

The school principal, Meera Verma, said, “Ravneet had been working hard throughout the year for her Class X CBSE examination. She did the school proud by securing highest marks in Patiala district.”

 

Once again girls have outshone boys in the district in the Class X CBSE examination. The top three positions have been bagged by girls. After Ravneet Kaur, the second position has been bagged by Yashvi of Akal Academy Balbehra. M Bhavya of Lady of Fatima Convent Secondary School stands third with 98.6 per cent marks in the district. Jashanpreet Kaur of the Akal Academy Reeth Kheri and Nikita Sharma of Lady Fatima scored 98.4 per cent marks each in the Class X exam. Akshita of Budha Dal Public School, Niyati Singla of Lady Fatima and Shreya Dembla of DAV Public school got 98.2 per cent each in Class X.
