Remember the 13-year-old Sikh boy who was attacked on a Melbourne bus for wearing a turban?

Harjeet Singh was left shaken by the cowardly attack by three persons on a Doncaster bus in March.

He has now been featured in a video titled ‘A Turban Fan’. Harjeet is seen with Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa in the video, explaining the turban through hip hop music.

“See this thing, this thing I wear? It’s a turban man.. it covers my hair. You can have a look, maybe you’ll stare but listen to his story and you might just care,” the rap lyrics go.

The video has been produced by Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa. She got in touch with Harjeet’s family after he was subjected to the attack.

“We decided to take a negative incident and turn it into something positive by creating ‘A Turban Fan'”, said Sukhjit about the initiative.

While the video propagates equality in the language that the may resonate with the youth, it also has a very firm message to the ‘haters’.

“I’m the one you notice ..I don’t run I can’t hide ..If you need to spew your hate ..I’ll take it with pride.”

“Get it out of your system..Take it out on me ..So all the other kids..Can get off free. I’ll take your worst.. It don’t matter to me.. Cause I got a turban and It makes me free.Remember the 13-year-old Sikh boy who was attacked on a Melbourne bus for wearing a turban?
