The supreme sacrifice of Guru Arjun Dev ji for the cause of religion ushered a new era in the history of Sikhism. On May 22, 2015, a grand programme was organized in the premises of Gurudwara Gomti Sahib to commemorate this historic and tragic day.
All the school children along with their class teachers presented themselves very devotedly in Darbar Sahib. The early morning witnessed a very pleasant devotional surrounding as fragrance of chanting of the holy verses, hymns and shalokas from the scriptures filled the atmosphere with divine echos. The Akal children, after the morning nitnem, recited the path of Sri Sukhmani Sahib and then a number of activities related with the life of Guru Sahib were performed.
A part from bhog ceremony a variety of other programmes and activities were prepared and beautifully performed on the stage.
A group of students from class VI sang in favour of “Khalsa”. Class V students Arshdeep Singh glorified Guruji’s sacrifice through “ Tatti Naloon Tattey nain Iraadey”. Class VIII students Manjot Singh, Dilpreet Singh held the congregation spell-bound with their recitation of “ Sri Guru Arjun Dev ji Sahib” and a Kavishri- describing the martyrdom of Guru Sahib. Recitation of shabad “ Khet jo Madio Soorma” and “ Japio jin Arjun Dev Guru by class XII and seven students emotionally recounted the importance of the invaluable sacrifices of Guru sahib.
At this juncture a “ Shabeel” was organized and the devotees were served with sweet water and black boiled chanas”(gram) as Guru Ka Atoot Langar. All the influential personalities of the area were also these to enjoy the discourses of the religious heads.
The programme came to an end with the Ardas by Gurpal Singh of class XII and a speech of principal Madam Mrs. Pawan Sahni.
