Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. It accounts for 7.4 million deaths (around 13% of all deaths) Cancer often creates fear which comes out of ignorance and misconception. More than 30% of cancer cases could be prevented by modifying lifestyle or avoiding key risk factors. About 1/3rd of cancer cases could be reduced if cases are treated and detected at an early stage.
Akal Academy Kajri teachers, and Students participated in Cancer Awareness programme on 5 Feb, 2016 in the School Library Hall. The programme was organized by Abhai House.
The programme was aimed to sensitize the children about Cancer, its meaning, it types causes and treatment precautions. In the beginning of the programme Abhai House Master Mr. Vattanpreet Singh welcomed the participants teachers and highlighted upon the need for Cancer awareness.
Later Biology teacher Ms.Navneet Kaur shared information about Cancer its types and treatments available to treat this deadly disease. Mr. Ashok Singh Guleria also shared his views on the severity of this deadly disease in India. Mr. Phillip Xavier Media Coordinator, Mr. Sudhir Kumar, Mrs. Nidhi Kaur too contributed to make this programme successful. The Principal Mrs Simran Kaur Thind gave her commendation to Abhi House for organizing this programme.
