Once in 1518, Guru Nanak Ji, Bhai Mardana, and Bhai Bala came to a nearby village. They stayed here for a few days and did kirtan (singing of hymns) and preached the message of God. Baba Budha Ji, who was only twelve years old, heard that a great saint was in town, so he decided to go and visit him. When he went, there was a large crowd gathered, so he offered some milk to the Guru and then sat with the rest of the sangat (congregation).

After some time, everyone in the sangat left and went home, but Baba Ji did not leave. He remained seated by Guru Nanak. He then asked Guru Nanak the following question, “Please cut my cycle of life and death.”

Guru Sahib replied: “You are only a CHILD yet. But you talk so WISELY.”

“Some Mughal soldiers set up camp by our village, and they destroyed all our crops. The RIPE as well as UNRIPE crop were both cut down. It made me think, that just as the soldiers do not look at the crop’s age or growth before destroying it, similarly when death comes it does not consider the AGE or YEARS of a person before it comes and takes them away.”

Hearing this Guru Nanak Sahib jee said, “You are NOT a child; you possess the WISDOM of an OLD MAN.” From that day, BooRaa, came to be known as Bhai Buddha jee. ‘BUDDHA’ in Panjabi meaning a WISE OLD MAN.

A Sikh student of Kings College London (KCL) has had his degree put in jeopardy after a French school he was due to work in for an overseas placement refused his position.

On October 3rd M.Singh Pandhal was told that due to strict application of Laicité, the French secularist law, his role as a teaching assistant was rescinded. As a Sikh, M.Singh wears a dastar (Sikh turban). In order to complete a degree in French and Management, KCL students must spend one year studying abroad in a French speaking environment.

“I feel disappointed and frustrated with this situation. French authorities allowed me to settle here, knowing what I came for, without telling me anything until I walked into the school. When I came in the headmaster did not even greet me, he just began questioning me on my dastar. I was later told I would not be allowed to work in any public school in France.”

M.Singh is currently speaking with both the Sikh Federation UK, who have long lobbied the UK government to challenge the discriminatory European law also observed in countries such as Belgium and Turkey, along with the Representative Council of Sikhs of France (RCSF), in order to remedy the situation and allow the British student to complete his degree.

With his application to work abroad as part of his degree going through the British Council, it leaves questions as to how much responsibility the educational institution will take in ensuring all British students – including Sikhs – get a fair chance to use their services.

KCL released the following statement to the Sikh Press Association regarding the situation:

All King’s College London students studying or working abroad through our schemes are made aware of legislation in country and of local customs which may affect them.

As an institution the safety and welfare of our 30,000 students and staff is paramount. King’s is proud of its diverse and inclusive community, which comprises students and staff from more than 150 countries, from all backgrounds and faiths. We are committed to respect for all of our students and staff.

Our procedures are under regular scrutiny and a review of this case with the student involved is already underway.

Ranjit Singh, director of RCSF, who is taking up the issue with French authorities, stated, “Our goal is find an alternative solution with the French academy. We thank KCL for their support during this period. We are seeking support from any organisations that believe in freedom of religion.

“Sikhs once proudly wore their daastars, refusing helmets, to fight for the freedom of France in both World War One and World War Two. It is disappointing it is now seen as a barrier in working for the state, whereas once it symbolised protection of the state.”

Earlier this year, the French turban ban was criticised by newly elected Slough Labour MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, a dastar wearing Sikh, in his maiden speech, calling it a “warped interpretation of secularism”.

ਦਿਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਲਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿਚ ਬੜੀ ਸਜ-ਧਜ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ‘ਚ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਤੇ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਹੈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਐ,ਜਦੋਂ ਮੀਰੀ-ਪੀਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ 6ਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ 52 ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ।

ਛੇਵੇਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੈਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਬੰਦੀ-ਛੋੜ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੀ
ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ।

ਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬੇਮਿਸਾਲ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤਮਈ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀਕਾਰੀ ਮੋੜ ਲੈ ਆਂਦਾ।

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਾਲਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਲ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਚੁੱਕਣੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਣਗੇ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰ-ਗੱਦੀ ਦੀ ਪਰੰਪਰਾਗਤ ਰਸਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਬਦਲਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਮੀਰੀ ਤੇ ਪੀਰੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਪਹਿਨੀਆਂ।

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਥੇ ਦੀਵਾਨ ਸਜਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਬੀਰ-ਰਸੀ ਵਾਰਾਂ ਵੀ ਗਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ।

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਨਸਲ ਦੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਣਖੀਲੇ ਗੱਭਰੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਫੌਜ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਗੀ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗੀ।

ਗੁਰੂ-ਘਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਹਾਂਗੀਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਨ ਭਰਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਲਸਰੂਪ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਬਗਾਵਤ ਦੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਜ਼ਰਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰਬੰਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਧਾਰਨ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਖਬਰ ਬੜੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵੇਦਕ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਨਾਲ ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦਾ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਹੀ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਥੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲ-ਕੋਠੜੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਧੁਨਾਂ ਉੱਠਣ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ।

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਆਂਦਾ। ਓਧਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰਬੰਦੀ ਲੰਬੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਚੈਨੀ ਵਧਣ ਲੱਗੀ।

ਬਾਬਾ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ‘ਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਜਥਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਲਈ ਰਵਾਨਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਜਿਥੋਂ-ਜਿਥੋਂ ਇਹ ਜਥਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦਾ, ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਭਾਰੀ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਜਥਾ ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਜਾਂ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਜ਼ਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਾ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀ।

ਪਰ ਇਹ ਜਥਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਰਮਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਭੇਂਟ ਕਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਮੁੜ ਆਇਆ। ਮੁਸਲਿਮ ਸੂਫੀ
ਸੰਤ ਸਾਈਂ ਮੀਆਂ ਮੀਰ ਜੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਹਾਂਗੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ‘ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ
ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਇਕੱਲਿਆਂ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਹੋਣਾ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਸਦਕਾ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਜ਼ਰਬੰਦ 52 ਰਾਜਪੂਤ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਬੰਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲੀ। ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ‘ਬੰਦੀ-ਛੋੜ’ ਦਾਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗਾ।

ਰਿਹਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਾਰੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਸਿੱਖ
ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪੁੱਜੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਸੀ। ਸਿੱਖ
ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪੁੱਜਣ ‘ਤੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਘਿਓ ਦੇ
ਦੀਵੇ ਜਗਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਮਨਾਈਆਂ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਵੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਦੀਪਮਾਲਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਇਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਬਣਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਜਗਤ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੰਦੀ-ਛੋੜਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਲੱਗਾ।

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਜੋਤੀ-ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹਾਦਰ
ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਬੰਦੀਛੋੜ ਦਿਵਸ (ਦੀਵਾਲੀ) ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸਾਖੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ‘ਸਰਬੱਤ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ’ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਰਪੇਸ਼ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਪੰਥਕ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮਤੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ।

1733 ਈਸਵੀ ਦੀ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਅਵਸਰ ‘ਤੇ ਵੀ ਭਾਈ ਮਨੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ
ਨੇ ਇੰਜ ਹੀ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਪੁੱਜਣ ਦੇ ਸੱਦੇ ਭੇਜੇ।
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਇਕੱਤਰਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਨਾਹੀ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਭਾਈ ਮਨੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਟੈਕਸ ਦੇਣਾ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਇਕੱਤਰਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਜ਼ਾਜ਼ਤ ਲੈ ਲਈ। ਓਧਰ ਨਵਾਬ ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆਂ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਇਕੱਠ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਹੋਏ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਣ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੂਹ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਟੈਕਸ ਨਾ ਭਰਨ ਦਾ ਬਹਾਨਾ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਨੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਸੱਦ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਟੈਕਸ ਨਾ ਅਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਰਤ ‘ਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਮੌਤ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੁਰਮਾਨ ਸੁਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਫਿਰ ਜਾਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਟੈਕਸ ਭਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ‘ਸਿੱਖ ਲਈ ਧਰਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ, ਜਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ’, ਆਖ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਦਾ ਜਾਮ ਪੀਣਾ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਫ਼ਤਵੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਮਨੀ ਸਿੰਘਨੂੰ ਬੰਦ-ਬੰਦ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਈ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ ਦਿਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਲਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਅਵਸਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਮੂਹ/ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਬਾਦ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਜਿਥੇ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਜਗਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜ ਦਿਵਸ (ਦੀਵਾਲੀ) ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ‘ਤੇ ਪੰਥ ਦੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ, ਆਪਸੀ ਏਕਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਦ-ਭਾਵਨਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬੱਤ ਦੇ ਭਲੇ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਦਰਸਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗਾਡੀ ਰਾਹ ਦੇ ਧਾਰਨੀ ਹੋ ਦਸ਼ਮੇਸ਼ ਪਿਤਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ
