Organic food is now not limited to the people with money who can afford to have fresh and very clean, pesticide free food. Organic food has now arrived at the Sikh Shrine The Golden Temple

All the approx 1 lakh pilgrims and devotees who visit the shrine daily will now enjoy organic langar and get closer to a better self.

Though SGPC – Siromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee receives around 1000 kg of food supply every three to four days but the committee resolves to increase the supply and provide natural and pesticide free food soon.

SGPC secretary Daljit Kaur said “In January we started serving organic carrot, radish, spinach and cabbage as part of langar. The purpose is to serve devotees food that is chemical free.”

The 7 acre land attached to the Gurdwara Gurusar Satlani Sahib is being used to grow the organic Langar. The farming of wheat and fruits has been started. This has set an example for other Gurdwara’s too.
