Waris Ahluwalia finally receives an apology after being barred from the flight because of his turban. The security check demanded him to remove his turban even though it had not triggered a metal detector.
“We apologize to Mr. Waris Ahluwalia for the bad experience he had with one of our security elements in addressing your flight to New York in the Mexico City International Airport,” the airline wrote in a statement.
Aeromexico has issued a directive to its staff regarding the religious significance of the Sikh turban, and plans to make a formal request to the TSA and the Mexican government to implement religious and diversity sensitivity training regarding screening of passengers with religious headgear into its airport security training curriculum.
Although he felt great after receiving the apology but he thinks more work has to be done in this. The 41 yr old actor feels we are half way through until the airline also guarantees that it will train employees to better work with Sikhs and educate them on how to screen people in religious headgear.
He hold no hard feelings against them but wants to spin this into a positive thing.
