I am Deepinder Singh from Muktsar town, I feel proud to be an alumnus of Akal Academy Muktsar, the school which transformed my life from a rural village boy to an educated and independent individual who is able to support and uplift his agrarian family. I completed my schooling up till 10th from Muktsar’s Akal Academy in the year 2004, after which I had to move to a school in Bhatinda to complete my +2.

Post my schooling, I pursued my B.Tech in Electronics and Communications from Banda Singh Bahadur College in Fatehgarh after which, with the graces of almighty and blessings of my Akal Academy, I received my first job at the prestigious Ericsson Company, Gurgaon where I worked for 1 ½ year and gained much of experience and insightful knowledge of corporate world.

Belong to a mediocre agrarian family of a village, wherein my father worked in the farms alongside a small Govt. job to support our family, I can certainly say that I could’ve never imagined my life working at a corporate in the city amongst the intellectuals of the highest order – the credit for all of it certainly belongs to Akal Academy, which gave me a solid base-foundation.

After living away from home whilst working with Ericsson, I began to look for options in Chandigarh, as the place has always inspired me the most ever since my childhood, especially because of its rich culture and aspiring development model. Mulling over the available options, I switched to a Bank Job – for almost over a year I worked with IDBI and OBC bank in Jalandhar before I finally received a Job opportunity at Punjab & Sind Bank in Chandigarh, where I am currently employed as a Probationary Officer.

I feel much settled now, especially having landed at a place that I’ve always admired. and my parents are happy for me too, since I am their only son. I now look forward to evolve myself in the banking sector. In the long run I plan to try for the Civil Services, for which I will be preparing myself for the UPSC examinations alongside my bank job.

It feels great realize the transition my life has gone through – which seems to be in a permanent evolving mode. I never imagined that live could be so limitless and joyous. I am really thankful to all my teacher and other members at the school who made me the person I am today, connected me to the roots of my heritage. The spiritual grooming they’ve provided me is a lot helpful, the habit of ‘Paath’ enables me to maintain a balance in life.

My message to fellow rural students is to stay connected to their roots, their heritage and study with all their heart. Akal Academy is doing a great work and providing schooling with standards at par with the schools of Chandigarh & other cities, I can say that because I’ve lived here and seen the schools here, the system and modules of Akal Academy are brilliant. For parents, I would like to appeal to them to support and provide complete education to their children, including girl child because I’ve often seen that parents usually tend to let the child leave the studies after a certain level, which I feel is a malpractice that hampers and affects the growth of not only the child, but the entire family. Rest, I give my best wishes to the Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib Team working under the aegis of great saint Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, who is enlightening lives of so many rural children and their families through world-class education alongside spiritual uplift. May the God always be on your side in all your endeavors. Gur-Fateh!
