At Village Gomtipul Akal Academy

The 2 day subject wise model making cultural activities and sports day extravaganza was celebrated with great fervor & gusto on 20th & 21st December 2013 making it a unique event – as for the first time the ‘Trio’ events of Model Making, The Annual Cultural Meet and the Sports Day for 2013 were observed together. The events were channelized and exhibited in such a concerted way that the large gathering of around 2000+ spectators – the parents and guardians of the students and escorting localites were glued to their seats alongside Chief Guest Mr. Hemraj Verma, Member of Legislative Assembly of the region was also present to witness the festivities.

The program started with the arrival of the Chief Guest – Mr.Hemraj Verma who was greeted with songs recited by the K.G. students who then took a stroll through the model exhibition which left him all praises for the great work done by the students. The most interesting exhibit was a walking and talking robot and a model of a car which could run on hydrogen also drew major attention.

There were models made on extinct & endangered species, models depicting rich & composite culture of Punjab as well as national unity and integrity & geographical diversity also stole the limelight; a large number of people were present to experience the exhibition too.

The sports event was kick started by the chief guest when the young sports players accorded great honor to the chief guest by presenting a brisk and smart march-past as well as saluting the dignitary; he then inaugurated the program by releasing balloons in the sky whilst also lightening the sports torch.

The performance of cultural as well as sports events taking place side by side enthralled the Spectators enjoying their refreshments of tea, coffee, cold drinks and bread-pakodas served by volunteering students.

“Jaggo” a traditional Punjabi folklore meant to be performed at happy and auspicious occasion such as marriage ceremonies was performed in such a majestic way that the audience could not stop cheering. 

The massive playground was decked with children wearing colorful attires looking their best. Even the chief guest admitted in his concluding speech that it was first occasion when he saw such grand combination of events organized in such an ordinary but carefully managed way.

Every effort was made to give maximum participation to the children of each class whether it was a cultural, sports or model making event. The sports event of the tiny-tots such as banana race, jalebi race, cycle race and frog race were highly commendable and attracted the attention of all. The performance on the patriotic and some Bollywood numbers, the hearth-robbing audiences were left with no option but to capture the hilarious moments in their cameras and cell phones.

Local influential personalities Dr.Joginder singh (Begpur), S.Harbhajan singh (Laungapur), S. Sukhwinder Singh, S. Sukhdev Singh, S.Kabul Singh and S.Dalbeer Singh graced the occasion with their presence.  Jathedar – Jaswant Singh and Madam Pawan Sahni thanked everyone and urged them to extent such co-operation in future as well.
