In an effort to improve environment and to curb pollution this Diwali, students from various Akal Academies had earlier joined together at Bhai Desa Village Academy – to take a pledge of celebrating a Cracker-Free Diwali this season.

For the purpose, the Academy observed a specially organized a meet-event at Bhai Desa Academy campus on November 1st, where around 930 students, coming from nearby Akal academies i.e. Village Mander, Kaudiwara, Uddat Saidewala and Akal Academy Cheema, gathered to take a vow for making a difference this Diwali by practicing and promoting the concept of Cracker-Free Diwali celebrations in their villages.

On the occasion, Punjab’s Pollution Control Board’s Director – Dr. Charanjeet Singh explained the harmful effects and serious implications that pollution, caused by burning crackers, puts on the environment & other living species including plants & animals. Also, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Jain – SLIET Longwal, volunteer Manjeet Singh Bakshi – D.P.R.O also motivated children on preserving environment.

The event was followed by a quick-quiz, which comprised of questions related to information imparted by the Doctor where students, divided into teams, as per their respective houses Amul, Ajay, Abhay & Atul house competed; where House Amul won the 1st position through its young participant Prabhjeet Kaur’s quick replies, who was awarded by the board – which also promised to take the winning house on a historical-places trip post Diwali.

At the end of the event, Principal Gurjeet Kaur Chahal honored & thanked all the guests for giving their pious presence & informative-knowledge that they imparted during the event.
