Rural participant students of village Cheema Sahib’s English-Medium Akal Academy exhibited splendid performance at the recent Zonal Level Athletic Meet held at Sunaam. In total, the squad representing the academy won 17 Medals including 10 Gold & 7 Silvers; making their school and parents proud.

Akal Academy’s Principal Mrs. Baljeet Kaur and Coach Mr. Kuldeep Thakur revealed that Academy’s player Rupinder Singh gave superb performance at Boys’ Under-14 – 400mtr run, 200mtr run & high jump and bagged 3 Gold Medals for the Academy; for his brilliant exhibition across the games he was also awarded the title of “The Best Athlete” for the event.

On the other hand, Sandeep Singh secured 2nd position at the “Long Jump” while Butaa Singh obtained his similar (2nd) spot at “Short-Put”; squad’s Gaganpreet Singh stood 3rd in 100mtr while securing 2nd spot at the “Hurdle Race”. In the under-17 category for boys, Lakhwinder Singh jumped the highest to win 1st position at “High Jump”and Arshdeep Singh ruled 1st at “Hammer Throw” while Harshdeep Singh managed 2nd place at both “400mtr Race” and the “Long Jump” competition.

Coach Kuldeep Thakur also told that 8 players from our squad have been selected for upcoming District Level Athletic Meet. The village Cheema Akal Academy won the over-all Trophy of the event; it ruled right at the top of the score boards; Principal Baljeet Kaur congratulated the students for their exceptional performances & for bringing the prestigious title home for the Academy whilst wishing them good luck for the upcoming District Level Athletic Meet.
