Prof Punditrao, assistant professor, government college, Chandigarh was honored by Bhasha Vibhag, Punjab Government for his contribution to popularize Punjabi language. Punditrao was given one lakh rupees and citation by Higher Education Minister Surjit Singh Rakhada. The vice chancellor Doctor Jaspal Singh expressed his happiness for Punditrao who won the special award inspite of being a south Indian by learning and writing 12 books in Punjabi. Total 60 writers and artists were honored by language department in Sri Guru Tegh Bahadar Hall, Punjabi University, Patiala.
After accepting the special award Punditrao said that he will work for the Punjabi language till the last breadth of his life.
