Two out of three students who participated WON Bronze medals competing amongst more than 1500 students who participated from different states of India.

Prof H.C Verma of Physics, IIT Kanpur along with Manmohan Singh (Principal) Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh visited Baru Sahib to illustrated physics experiment to generate students interest towards Physics!

The students of class 9th -12th loved the practical experiments demonstrated by Prof. H.C Verma himself which were both informative and easy to understand. His experiments made the difficult physics phenomenon into easy to understand concepts.

His sessions were so much informative that the students who felt physics as a burden on their Academics developed a keen interest in physics after his interactions.

Hail the efforts being put in by the Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib to help bring a wind of change called – Rural Transformation where the focus builds around bringing out of school rural children back to school and helping bring a change with 129 + Akal Academies across North India!

To inculcate creative skills and increasing proficiency in English amongst the village kids, Akal Academy, as a part of our values-based curriculum, recently organized a customized Inter-House Competition for all the students of the Academy from Nursery to class 12th on 10th May 2014. The event included some interesting and exciting set of competitions, all in English Language – Story Telling for Nursery to 5th, Poem Recitation from 6th to 8th, Creative Writing for 9th to 12th class students.

In all, around 250 students participated in this fun-filled competition. All participants performed with great confidence, enthusiasm and frolic. The event was conducted by the Incharge of Ajay House and English Department which they carried out with great ease and comfort ensuring maximum participation of the students making the event an enthralling experience both for students and the audience.

Towards conclusion, the Judges gave their verdict on the performances and announced the winners and their positions.

Dhurhi, 10th May : Students of the Akal Academy Benra, running under the aegis of Baba Iqbal Singh Ji of the Kalgidhar Trust Baru Sahib, recently organized a large rally throughout the city with the purpose of creating awareness against Drug/Alcohol addiction amongst people. This rally was flagged off from local Sangrur’s Landmark ‘Kothi’ by D.S.P. of Dhurhi – Krishan Kuman Painthey.

The rally took the route through Old Crops Market, Ra   ilway Road, Sadar Market, Iron Market, passing through various markets of Sanhein City, the rally reached its conclusive phase at Kakarwal Chowk. During the rally, the students appealed loudly, , with great enthusiasm, creating awareness amongst the people against the drug/alchohol addiction and its effects; they held firm the slogans and banners conveying inspiring messages.

During this event, amongst various participants; Principal Harjeet Kaur, Kuljeet Kaur –Traffic cum P.C.R.  incharge of Dhurhi, Amrik Singh Kala, Gurcharan Singh and Jivan Lal Pappi (all 3 Ex S.P.), Manjeet Bakshi – ‘SewaMukt Zilla Lok Sampark’ Incharge, Vikas Jain – Mandal President, Subhash Jain Mitha, Malkeet Changli – Chairman of Akhil Bhartiya Tarun Sangam and Dinesh Singhla were also present.

Students of Akal Academy Dhanal Kalan organized a Rally against Drug Addcition!

Last week saw a Rally organized by Dhanal Kalan in the awareness of making Punjab a Drug Free state. Students from grade IV to X , 373 in number participated in this good venture.

The rally started from the village, ‘Phulpur’ followed by the village ‘Choti Dhanal & ‘ then culminating at village Dhanal Kalan. The students spread their power of words in the adjoining villages spanning approximately 6 Km of road rally on foot. The villages echoed with the loud enthusiastic words of the students.

After coming back to the campus students went into a discussion with respected Principal Ma’am on their experiences regarding the drug de-addiction rally who motivated children to write a report of their experience in their dairies and talk about it at home with their parents.

 Mr. Manjit Singh taught students the meaning of ‘Sixth River’ that is flowing these days in Punjab which is drugs. He encouraged students to help stop this sixth river & save Punjab.

This is the way how with the Grace of Akal Purak and initiative of Principal, staff and Students, Akal Academy Dhanal Kalan did their bit to help in social welfare.

Students of Akal Academy Uddat Saidewala Raise voice against Drug/Alcohol Addiction

Under the ‘Samaaj Sudhaar Kranti’ initiative of the Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib – to create awareness about the hazards of Drugs Addiction amongst the youth of Punjab, on 3rd may 2014, the students alongside staff members of Akal Academy located at village Uddat Saidewala organized an awareness rally against Drug Abuse & Addiction.

The press note released on the event revealed that in this awareness rally, which was organized under the guidance of principal Gurjeet Kaur Ahluwalia, students held Anti Drugs Banners and Posters in their hands and walked through every street of the village and the areas nearby, loudly hailing the anti drug slogans to create awareness amongst the people. People listened to the appeals of the students very carefully. Principal Gurjeet Kaur, whilst addressing the rally, told that the increasing Drug/Alcohol menace is a matter of critical concern for our society.

Sant Teja Singh Ji – 6th Inter Academy Basketball Tournament!

Akal Academy Cheema Sahib, running under the aegis of the Kalgidhar Trust Baru Sahib, recently observed 6th ‘Sant Teja Singh Ji Inter-Academy Basketball Tournament. In the tournament, 6 teams of girls participated from different Academies. Post the Kirtan performance by the Akal Academy Students during the opening ceremony, Principal S.Baljeet Kaur waived the flag to mark the initiation of the games.

 

Coach Kuldeep Thakur, whilst providing the detailed information about the event, revealed that in the tournament – Akal Academy Bhai Desa, Akal Academy Dhindsa and Akal Academy Ratia won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

On this occasion, Principal Baljeet Kaur, whilst congratulating the winning teams, said that for the all around development of the students, participation in sport-games alongside studies is very important; she honored the winning teams with trophies and medals. During the event, Proncipal Beant Kaur, Akal Academy Punjabi Medium alongside entire staff were also present.

Akal Academy located at the village Bhadaur recently observed a creative workshop “Create out of Waste” on Saturday, 26th April,2014. The Workshop, observed as a part of lessons on Ecology Restoration, intents to induce constructive character and creative abilities amongst the students.

Students from all classes & sections (I-VIII) participated with great enthusiasm in a healthy competing spirit. They produced several beautifully crafted creative items like: –

  1. 1st and 2nd classes made beautiful items of clay modeling like animals, flowers, furniture items, fruits etc.
  2. 3rd and 4th classes made different decorated boxes like- application box, chalk box etc.
  3. 5th & 6th classes also made decorated boxes from waste bottles like- pen-holders, pencil box, comb’s box.
  4. 7th & 8th classes made different models of waste material like- scene of a hospital, Bangle box, posters or flowers banquet.

This activity was conducted by Ms. Parveen Bhardwaj & Ms. Maninderpal Kaur, house masters of Atul House.

The workshop was Judged by Ms. Harjit Kaur Gill and Ms. Amandeep Kaur Markand

The results were later declared by the respective judges and the children were also presented with the prizes.
