Go Green Club: Tree Plantation Drive by Students of Akal Academy – Bhadaur

The Go Green club of Akal Academy Bhadaur organized a Tree Plantation Drive this weekend which was conducted under the inchargeship of Atul House and the Go-Green club. The students from class 3rd onwards till class 10th participated in the social cause.

Students brought approximately 200 plants including a variety of shady plants, fruit trees and flower plants. These were planted in the surrounding areas of the lawn of the school by the students & teachers. Students were motivated to make environment clean n plant more and more trees to keep the world a happy place to live in!

Akal Academy, Surrey is hosting a summer camp at the Academy starting tomorrow, Monday at 1:00 pm which will go on until 5:00 pm. The camp will be for two weeks from July 14- July 25. If anyone is interested in sending their children, siblings or friends to enjoy this wonderful opportunity to learn more about Sikhi and meet new people, you can contact the Academy via email or phone at 604-780-7200. Registration is free and there is a cost of only $60 which will go towards lunch and other outdoor activities including water park and bowling for the students.

Dates: July 14 – July 25 (Monday – Friday)

This camp is to familiarize students with public speaking skills, leadership skills, and some very interesting facts about Sikhi. Our goal is to have a healthier community – and we wish to accomplish this goal with your support in bringing the best out of our children.

Bright Voices of Tomorrow: Speech and Poetry Competition observed during ‘Gurmat Samagam’ at Gurdwara Cheema Sahib

At the Gurdwara located at the birth place of Sant Attar Singh Ji Cheema Sahib a Speech and Poetry Competition was organized during the ongoing yearly Gurmat Samagam in the memory of Bhai Santokh Singh and Darshan Singh Ji.

 

Both Senior and Junior School Students participated in this competition which was organized by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle.

Shivinder Singh, an Alumnus of Akal Academy Bhadaur – one of the 129 Akal Academies running under the direction of Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, got selected as Lieutenant in the Indian Army. The academy organized a special event to honor him.

Lieutenant Shivinder Singh attended the event with his entire family; the foremost thing he did was to bow his head at the Gurdwara Sahib inside the Academy.

Academy’s Principal Gurdeep Kaur whilst addressing the students of the academy mentioned that Shivinder Singh has studied at the Academy from Nursery to +2 obtaining 1st Position every year, besides, he had won several awards in sports and today he has brought proud to his parent and the academy throughout the entire nation by becoming a Lieutenant.

During the event, Lieutenant Shivinder Singh mentioned that “Success at every level is achievable through hard work, but it’s important for each student to have an aim about what they want to be in life – I too developed this aim of serving the nation when I was in 9th standard and then I kept working towards it through hard work and dedication in my studies because of which I secured 1st position in my +2. Thereafter I pursued B.Tech in I.T and took the C.D.S paper through which I got selected in the Indian Army wherein after receiving military training at Dehradun for 1 ½ years I got selected for the position of Lieutenant and Major Kobar Sahni pinned the Stars of Lieutenant upon my shoulders.”

Akal Academy Bhadaur organized Dastar Bandi competitions in the central corridor of block-A at 2:30 P.M. on 5th July, 2014. It was conducted under Ajay House’s Incharge. Two groups of boys were made –

  1. 1st Group- VIII & IX class
  2. 2nd Group- X, XI & XII class

The 1st group boys had to tie a Gol Dastar while the 2nd tied Turban very nicely.

The judges at last gave positions accordingly. This competition was planned in order to motivate the students to keep in touch with Sikhism and under the importance of Dastar. The judges then gave them positions according to their performances!

Reshaping the Talent – Akal Academy Kajri Organise a Two Day Hindi Teachers’ Workshop

With the objective of sharpening teachers’ potential pedagogical skills and enhance effective teaching, Akal Academy Kajri Niranjanpur under the aegis of Kalghidhar Education Trust, Baru Sahib, organized a two day Hindi workshop in collaboration with Cordova Publication Gurgaon, New Delhi. With the objective of sharpening teachers’ potential pedagogical skills and enhance effective teaching, Akal Academy Kajri Niranjanpur under the aegis of Kalghidhar Education Trust, Baru Sahib, organized a two day Hindi workshop in collaboration with Cordova Publication Gurgaon, New Delhi. The Workshop was conducted by Mr Trilok Kaushik, a renowned educationist and author of School books.

To begin with, the resource person Mr. Trilok Kaushik and his team were welcomed by the host Principal Akal Academy Kajri, Mrs Simran Kaur Thind and Mrs Rangbir Kaur, Cluster head of Akal academies U.P region. Later Mr. Ashok Singh Guleria briefly highlighted the schedule of the workshop and welcomed the participating teachers from Akal Academy Kajri, Akal Academy Gomti, Akal Academy Telipura and Akal Academy Unnao, Kanpur. About 48 teachers of these academies attended the workshop with great zest, rapt attention and enthusiasm.

In the startup round, the resource person asked and called the participants one by one to read Swara and Vyanjna. He elaborated on the need of correct pronunciation, accent of the same to bring accuracy in both spoken and written.

In the second half of the first day, problems in poetry and prose teaching were widely discussed. Teachers’ queries were answered with examples taken from course books. Later teachers were motivated to compose poem in blank verse. In the concluding session of the first day feedback from the teachers was taken and their general queries were answered.

The second day of the workshop was practical based.Mr Trilok Kaushik welcomed the participants and motivated the teachers to compose moral based story. A visual poem was shown and its critical appreciation was practically done by the teachers. To boost up writing skills of the learners, tips were given on formal and informal letter writing. During the entire workshop Teachers remained sincerely engrossed in their work. On the closing day Teachers’ feedback was taken, their general and personal teaching problems were taken into consideration. Finally certificates to the participating teachers were distributed and the Principal Mrs. Simran Kaur Thind thankfully bid adieu to the participants. She thanked Cordova Publications and the resource person Mr Trilok Kaushik for his valuable contribution. It was really a wonderful learning experience for the teachers.
