Don’t Be So Quick to Believe What you hear Because LIES Spread Quicker than the Truth!

LIES!! LIES!! LIES!! Some mischievous Panth-dokhi elements have started a smear campaign by trying to show the purported video of a dera child-sewadar being beaten up; as one from #AkalAcademy #BaruSahib. The original video is actually of a Soorma (blind) Kirtaniya Baba Surjan Singh Kabeer Ganj, UP. We are pained by the false attempt to link Akal Academy with this shameful video. This has got nothing to do with Akal Academy. What disturbs us is the impulsive tendency of our brothers and sisters to SHARE such posts without giving a thought to its authenticity or relevance to the good of Sikhism. The end result of such innocent actions is that #HatersWin and #SikhismLoses!!! Please be aware that linking this video to us might be tantamount to Defamation. This might invite legal action. We appreciate if good sense would prevail upon these anti-Sikh elements, but we will not hesitate to take action as per law in case they do not desist from such illegal actions.

Baba Iqbal Singh in England- A noble, charismatic, visionary & spiritual Leader

It is a rare opportunity that we were fortunate to meet a Divine Soul Baba Iqbal Singh in the urban jungle of West London (Southall). This meeting was arranged by my architect friend Ranjit Singh of Delhi. Baba Ji, who at the age of 92 was in England spreading his message of peace and harmony among human beings and to receive the prestigious Sikh Life - Time Achievement Award 2016. Babaji’s visit to England provided us the privilege to acquaint ourselves with his objectives more thoroughly and spread his message to Indian community in Britain. Baba Iqbal Singh began his movement of educational and social reforms after re- tiring as Director of Agricultural Department in the State of Himachal Pradesh in 1986. He was inspired by his Master Baba Teja Singh. As a socio-spiritual entre- preneur and leader of Sikhs, Babaji is renowned for his reforming zeal in the field of education. He has already established 130 schools, 14 colleges and 2 universities, all in a span of 30 years. They are spread across Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The main objective of these educational institutes has been to provide Value-Based Education and equip children with spiritual as well as latest high quality technical and scientific knowledge without any gender or caste discrimination. Babaji was inspired firstly by Guru Nank’s mission and secondly by the famous writing of Wordsworth that a child is the father of man. That is to say that if any one wants to transform a society start with children. In fact it is interesting to note that a small hut with five students in 1986 has grown to 65,000 stu- dents per year across Northern India. One of the most developed premises is Akal Academy, Baru Sahib. (photo below) It is also known as the valley of divine and meditation place and is located 110 and 170 km from Shimla and Dehradun respectively. In addition to his work in spreading educational opportunities to the poor and reforming the society Babaji’s Akal Academia has been instrumental in: Women empowerment: A vast long-term women empowerment programs in the community is zestfully being run, wherein young girls are first educated to 12th standard and later to an intensive Teachers Train- ing Program of 4 years enabling them to be employed as Teachers in schools. Drugs: Babaji believes and works hard to ensure that young and old abstain from drugs and alcohol with a hope of closing down liquor shops and decline in crime rate. Children free from drugs, would naturally make them a good global citizens. Education in rural areas for the benefit of the rural population implying technical know-how of land fertility, seeds and climate. The curriculum, in short, emphasises not only spiritual values but a change in social, ethical and scientific thinking among the student community. A true Karmayogi saint who inspires by his very presence. Ranjit Singh is Delhi based Architect who has been involved in designing Baru Sahib - Valley of the Divine Peace. He also has been associated with many other projects and schemes imcluding proposed Akal University in Talwandi Sabho at Bathinda, Punjab. Babaji is a great believer of international harmony and peace and still striding hard to achieve these goals at the age of nighty two. Ravinder Pal Singh Kohli used to be a businessman. He left his business and now devotes his time and energies with Babaji to promote the worthy aims and objectives of the Kalgidhar Trust / Society. He with his large team is based in Delhi.

Effect of Demonetization on Education- Ashok Guleria (Chief Educator of Akal Academies)

India in the recent years has become a key player in the global education industry with 1.4 million schools having more than 227 million enrolled students and more than 36000 institutions imparting higher education. By 2020, India’s average age will be just 29 years, in comparison with 37 in China and the United States, 45 in Western Europe and 48 in Japan. This demographic trend will confer a significant competitive advantage upon India. To meet the future challenges of this potentially productive population a host of reforms and improved financial outlays is required to transform the country into a knowledge haven. With human resource increasingly gaining significance in the overall development of the country, development of education infrastructure is expected to remain the key focus in the current decade. In this scenario, infrastructure investment in the education sector is likely to see a considerable increase in the current decade. Still the country after Demonetization is in a calculative whirl and is responding to the economic, socio- political outcomes but in Education and human resource development this will surely help to uplift the Education sector with expectedly larger budgetary provisions, open investment and infrastructure. Moreover, there is larger scope of spurt in digital advancement in the sector in administration and education management system. In private education system demonetization will help to curb corruption that enters the sector via donations and capitations. It is expected that demonetization of currency will curb the menace of use of black money .It will bring equity among public and private sector. UNTIRED. UNRETIRED at 93 – #BabaIqbalSingh of #BaruSahib

At a mere age of twelve.
He woke up to an intense desire to change,
And to tread on the path his mentor had laid,
Only to dedicate a lifetime to create a better world.

Indian mythological stories narrated by his mother impacted young Iqbal Singh so much that his only dream was to use his life for a better world.

Iqbal Singh chose to stay in his country to serve the mankind over procuring a PhD from USA, unlike most people in his fraternity. He secretly used to admire Guru Angad Dev for his total submission to Guru Nanak Dev ji.

From his early days of being a Research Inspector in Himachal Pradesh, till being promoted as the Director of Agriculture, he gave away himself, ensuring that there is relentless progress in the field of Agriculture, all the time remaining committed to serve his Divine Master.

Most people after retirement aspire of reading newspapers in the luxuries of their homes, to soothe weary nerves. This legend, lovingly called as Babaji instead opted to make his master’s dream come true, creating every bit of the seemingly impossible dream of Baru Sahib, and used the robust endowment of education to uplift the society.

He ensured that the Kalgidhar Society attained success at every step it took towards social welfare programs. The first school was established in a rickety classroom with a mere strength of 5 students in 1986. It is a wonder that this tiny seed of knowledge, has flourished to 129 CBSE affiliated English medium Akal Academies that benefit around 60,000 rural kids and two Universities.

Doing justice to his passion to empower women, Baba Iqbal Singh has started a Teachers Training Institutes program wherein, girls receive free training and are also given employment benefitting around 2000 girls.

Babaji’s idea to ensemble modern education and spirituality, thus creating ideal global citizens is turning out to be a boon for youth of North India. His only mantra is to educate, enshrine, empower.

With his unrivalled contributions, in 2013 he was recognized as the fifth most influential Sikh by UK’s top 100 Sikh Organization.

In 2014, in the New York State Assembly cited him to be worthy of esteem of the USA for promoting tolerance to all people irrespective of culture or race.

Age of 90, which rather remains a mere figure for him, did not fatigue his body, nor did it conquer his mind. It is as though that contentment was a thought that never occurred to him. With an advancing age, came an unrelenting valor and unrivaled experiences, and another feather to his cap was added when in 2012, the Akal University Guru Ki Kashi at Damdama Sahib, Punjab was announced. The cost was $100 million, the worth being living upto the divine words of Guru Gobind Singh ji after 308 years. Another wonder was that Akal University saw its first academic session in 2015.

The young really need to learn from this noble man with unwithering enthusiasm. Everytime he has a new aim, a new dream; motive, only one, to make this society a better place to live in.

He has now set a target for his team to take the count of Akal Academies to 500 in the next decade! This target is yet another step towards shaping his master’s dream with utmost caution.

The entire life of this living legend conveys a profound message to the common men:

With colossal strength of the heart, dream on
With illuminating ideas weave your path;
With your soul in everything, give the world some more,
Only to let the world around you turn phenomenal.
